I\u2019m Lumi, a musician-turned-web designer, accessibility enthusiast, and mom of a young daughter (now an Archaeology student).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My journey with WordPress began when I transitioned from a career in music to web design. I was a professional musician for many years, and after earning my PhD, I decided it was time to change my career. As a musicologist, I spent many years working at the Publishing House of the National University of Music in Bucharest.<\/a> Alongside my office duties, I played piano as a choir accompanist, shared my love of music with many children, and even wrote a book about Romanian composer Felicia Donceanu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My husband introduced me to WordPress, and by the end of 2015, I had started building websites. I dedicated myself to learning and practicing, taking various courses over the years (from Udemy to BrainStation’s online Development), and building new projects all the way along. The most challenging part was overcoming my impostor syndrome \u2014 but I managed to quiet it after proving to myself, project by project, that I can confidently handle not just small projects, but also very complex ones. Now, nine years later, I have over 200 websites in my portfolio,<\/a> having worked in various roles including web designer, web developer, front-end developer, project manager, and designer. Most of my work has been as a freelancer, which gave me the flexibility to be there for my daughter during the years she needed me most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The WordPress community has been a pillar of support throughout my career change. I fell in love with this community right after attending my first meetup in 2016, and WordPress meetups and WordCamps have been my favorite networking events ever since. I\u2019ve been fortunate to be part of such a welcoming group at meetups, WordCamps Bucharest, and WordCamps Europe. I\u2019ve also had the pleasure of volunteering at several WordCamps, giving back to the community that has supported me so much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my personal life, when I\u2019m not creating or learning something new for my job, I enjoy traveling with my family, playing the piano, reading inspiring books, running, or just spending time with my cat and dog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ca muzicolog, am lucrat mul\u021bi ani \u00een Editura Unviersit\u0103\u021bii Na\u021bionale de Muzic\u0103.<\/a> Pe l\u00e2ng\u0103 activit\u0103\u021bile de birou, am inspirat mul\u021bi copii s\u0103 iubeasc\u0103 pianul ca profesoar\u0103 de pian, am c\u00e2ntat ca pianist-acompaniator cu diverse coruri, am scris o carte despre compozitoarea Felicia Donceanu.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prima experien\u021b\u0103 ca utilizator WordPress am avut-o ad\u0103ug\u00e2nd c\u0103r\u021bile editurii UNMB \u00een site. Dup\u0103 ce mi-am dat demisia, so\u021bul meu mi-a ar\u0103tat cum s\u0103 folosesc o tem\u0103 \u0219i \u00eempreun\u0103 am avut primul client. Am lucrat la \u00eenceput cu mul\u021bi clien\u021bi muzicieni \u0219i mi-am f\u0103cut relativ repede un portofoliu care s\u0103 \u00eenspire \u00eencredere. Am \u00eenv\u0103\u021bat mult anii care au urmat (cursuri de la Udemy la Development Bootcamp \u0219i am lucrat mult. 9 ani mai t\u00e2rziu am peste 200 de site-uri \u00een portofoliu, \u00een diverse roluri (web designer, web developer, front-end developer, project manager, designer). Am lucrat mult ca freelancer, ceea ce mi-a permis s\u0103 am un program flexibil s\u0103 fiu aproape de fiica mea \u00een anii c\u00e2nd a avut nevoie de mine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

WordPress community a fost un support permanent \u00een noua mea carier\u0103. M-am \u00eendr\u0103gostit de aceast\u0103 comunitate odat\u0103 cu participarea mea la primul meetup in 2016 \u0219i de atunci am fost nelipsit\u0103 de la WordPress mettups, WordCamps Bucharest, WordCamps Europe. Mi-a pl\u0103cut s\u0103 m\u0103 implic \u00een activitatea multor evenimente, de aceea am fost bucuroas\u0103 s\u0103 particip \u0219i \u00een organizarea WordCamp Romania. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00cen via\u021ba personal\u0103, c\u00e2nd nu creez un site sau \u00eenv\u0103\u021b ceva nou, \u00eemi place s\u0103 c\u0103l\u0103toresc cu familia, s\u0103 c\u00e2nt la pian, s\u0103 citesc, s\u0103 alerg sau doar s\u0103 petrec timp cu animalele noastre de companie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
